THIS IS EKO

Eko is a Malayan Tiger.

Malayan Tigers are critically endangered, with less than 200 mature individuals in the wild according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The tigers are native to the forests and mangrove swamps in Malaysia and face threats such as habitat loss, poaching for their bones and skin, depletion of their prey, and tiger-human conflict.

WHAT HAPPENED TO EKO

After the Zoo had closed to the public on Wednesday, December 29, River Rosenquist, 26, a member of a third-party cleaning service jumped a public barrier fence into an unauthorized space in front of the Malayan tiger habitat. It is believed that he was trying to feed or pet the tiger through the enclosure fence to the point where the tiger was able to reach him and pull his arm into the enclosure.  A CCSO deputy responded to the scene. After the deputy initially tried to get the tiger to release the arm, he was left with no option but to shoot the animal to save the young man’s life. Naples Zoo fully supports the difficult decision that the deputy had to make. It is the same decision that the Zoo's emergency response team would have had to make in this situation. The tiger was confirmed dead by Naples Zoo’s veterinarian.

WHAT WE DO

Here at EKO Prints, we are committed to making a positive impact on the conservation of endangered animals. For every purchase made, a percentage is donated to the zoo where the photo was taken and to support organizations like Panthera and The Wildlife Conservation Society, especially if the photo was taken in the wild. We believe that this is the most effective way to contribute to the protection of these majestic animals. Our collection is constantly expanding, and we look forward to bringing our work to a zoo near you soon!

HOW WE DO IT

At EKO Prints, we travel to various locations to capture stunning images of animals in zoos and in the wild. After taking the photos, we collaborate with the zoo managers to share our work and donate digital copies to the zoos for their social media and websites. Once we feature the new products on our site, they become available for purchase, and a percentage of each sale is donated to the respective zoo where the photo was taken. We are dedicated to keeping everyone informed about our process. For photos taken in the wild, we donate to Panthera and The Wildlife Conservation Society. Every purchase made helps in providing food and protection for these majestic animals. If you have any further inquiries, please don't hesitate to reach out to us via email!
